Algolia Search and Sync Terms and Conditions
1. Acceptance and Business Use
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern use of Algolia Search and Sync (the "App"), a Webflow application developed and operated by Candid Leap LLC ("Candid Leap", "we", "us").
The App is offered for business and professional use. By installing or using the App for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on that organization's behalf.
These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy and, where we process personal data on your behalf, our Data Processing Agreement ("DPA").
2. What the App Does
The App helps customers connect selected Webflow CMS content to an Algolia application and index that the customer owns.
The App may:
- Sync: read content from Webflow CMS Collections you select and write mapped content to your Algolia index.
- Build: provide tools in the Webflow Designer to configure search components and related attributes.
- Serve: provide a public front-end script that renders search experiences on your published site and queries your Algolia account directly from the visitor's browser.
The App does not host your website, does not own or host your Algolia account or search index, and does not resell Webflow or Algolia.
3. Accounts, Access and Credentials
You must have a valid Webflow account and permission to use the Webflow site where the App is installed. Features that use Algolia require your own Algolia account.
You connect Webflow through OAuth. The App may store the resulting Webflow access token, site identifiers, the installing user's Webflow identifier and email address, and configuration required to operate the App.
For Algolia, you provide an Application ID, a restricted sync API key, a search-only key where required, and index configuration. Sensitive Webflow and Algolia credentials are encrypted at rest.
We use your credentials only to provide the features you configure.
You are responsible for keeping your Webflow and Algolia accounts secure and for rotating or revoking credentials if you believe they have been compromised.
4. Your Content and Responsibilities
Your Webflow content, Algolia application, Algolia index and records, and your Webflow site remain yours.
You decide which Collections and fields to map. You are responsible for having the rights and lawful basis necessary to use, index and publish the content you choose.
The App's technical permissions may allow it to read CMS collection schemas on the connected site, but item content is read only from Collections you configure for syncing.
Some actions, including force reindexing, are destructive by design.
A force reindex deletes and rebuilds the selected Algolia index. You are responsible for reviewing destructive actions before confirming them, including any effect on custom Algolia index settings.
5. Acceptable Use and Sensitive Data
You may not use the App to:
- violate applicable law or third-party rights;
- access or interfere with systems or accounts without authorization;
- circumvent rate limits, security controls or other technical restrictions;
- send malware, fraudulent or abusive content, or use the App in a way that materially harms Candid Leap, Webflow, Algolia or other users;
- index content that you do not have the right to use; or
- resell, sublicense or white-label the App without our written permission.
The App does not technically classify or block sensitive CMS fields. You therefore must not intentionally use the App to process highly sensitive information unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing and appropriate safeguards are in place.
This includes:
- payment card data;
- health or medical information;
- government-issued identification numbers;
- passwords, authentication secrets or private API credentials other than credentials the App specifically requests;
- personal data of children where prohibited by applicable law; or
- special-category or similarly sensitive personal data protected by applicable privacy law.
6. Webflow, Algolia and Other Third-Party Services
Your relationships with Webflow and Algolia are governed by your own agreements with those providers.
We are not responsible for their pricing, quotas, availability, API changes, suspensions, policies or other actions.
The App also depends on infrastructure and service providers used by Candid Leap. A current description of those providers is available in the Privacy Policy and DPA.
You are responsible for charges incurred through your own Webflow and Algolia accounts, including search, indexing and related usage generated through your use of the App.
7. Front-End Script, Tracking and Versioning
The front-end script is published as a public npm package and delivered through a public CDN.
It runs on your published site and uses your Algolia search-only key to query your Algolia account directly from the visitor's browser.
Search-only keys are intended for front-end use and may be visible in your site's source code. You must never place an Algolia sync/admin key in published front-end code.
Algolia Insights and similar optional tracking features are off by default. If you enable them, related events are sent directly from the visitor's browser to your Algolia account. You are responsible for any notices or consent required for tracking on your website.
7.1 Versioning
We use semantic versioning for the front-end script.
Our recommended production installation uses a floating major version, such as @1.
Minor and patch releases within that major version may be delivered automatically. We intend those releases to remain backward compatible.
Breaking changes are released under a new major version and do not automatically reach customers using the previous floating major version.
You may instead pin an exact version if you prefer to review and apply updates manually.
If you pin an exact version, you are responsible for updating it to receive later fixes and improvements.
We do not promise Subresource Integrity (SRI) support for the standard floating-major installation.
8. Search Engine Visibility
Search results and related UI created by the App are rendered client-side after the page loads.
Search engines may treat client-rendered content differently from static Webflow content.
We do not guarantee crawling, indexing, rankings, traffic or other SEO outcomes.
You are responsible for deciding how client-rendered search fits into your site's SEO strategy.
9. Fees and Professional Services
The App is currently offered free of charge.
Free access does not create a right to free access forever.
We may introduce paid plans, limits or paid features in the future. We will not charge you for a paid plan unless you agree to it.
Candid Leap may separately offer paid implementation, migration, configuration, design, development, consulting, training or other professional services.
Those services are outside the App and will be governed by a separate written agreement or statement of work.
10. Intellectual Property
The App, software, documentation, components, design, processes and related intellectual property belong to Candid Leap and its licensors.
Using the App does not transfer ownership of our intellectual property to you.
Your own content, Webflow site, Algolia data and customer-created site content remain yours.
11. Privacy and Data Processing
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
Where we process personal data on your behalf, the DPA applies.
Where international transfers of personal data require safeguards under applicable law, those transfers will be handled in accordance with the DPA and applicable data protection law.
12. Availability, Suspension and Termination
The App is provided without a guaranteed service level unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We may modify, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary.
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:
- a material violation of these Terms;
- illegal activity;
- a security threat;
- material harm to our systems or third-party systems;
- a requirement imposed by Webflow or Algolia; or
- applicable law.
Where practical, we will provide reasonable notice and an opportunity to address a remediable issue before suspension or termination.
When you disconnect or uninstall the App, we stop processing through that connection and delete the site's stored credentials, configuration, mappings and sync history from our active database.
Your Algolia index and records remain in your own Algolia account and are not deleted by Candid Leap.
Messages already accepted into our webhook queue may remain until processed or expired, for up to 14 days.
Those queued messages contain content identifiers rather than CMS field values and cannot use deleted credentials after disconnection.
Operational logs, analytics records, email delivery records and other provider-held records may remain for their normal retention periods or where retention is required by law.
If we discontinue the App generally, we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice where practical.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every future Webflow or Algolia change, or that your Algolia index will always exactly match your Webflow CMS.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Candid Leap LLC and its personnel against third-party claims to the extent arising from:
- content you do not have the right to use;
- your material violation of these Terms; or
- your unlawful use of the App.
This does not apply to the extent a claim results from our gross negligence, willful misconduct or material breach of these Terms.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER PARTY WILL BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS OR REVENUE.
This includes charges incurred through your Webflow or Algolia accounts.
Except for liability that cannot lawfully be limited, each party's total aggregate liability arising from the App will not exceed the greater of:
- amounts paid or payable for the App during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
- USD $100.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
We will post the updated version with a revised effective date and make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes before they take effect.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its applicable Commercial Arbitration Rules in Los Angeles County, California, unless the parties agree otherwise.
Either party may seek temporary or injunctive relief where reasonably necessary to protect confidential information, security or intellectual property.
To the extent permitted by law, each party waives the right to a jury trial.
18. General
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
A failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
You may not assign these Terms without our written permission.
We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of our business or assets.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, DPA and any applicable written order or statement of work, form the agreement between you and Candid Leap concerning the App.

The App is developed and operated by Candid Leap LLC and is not operated or supported by Webflow or Algolia unless expressly stated otherwise.
